An Introduction to War Alliance Heroes

The latest update to War Alliance introduces a dramatic shift in how the game is played with the introduction of Heroes. This new addition takes the foundation created and showcased in our pre-Alpha phase and brings a whole new twist on the battle arena genre, giving players a whole new way to plan, strategize, and play.

What are Heroes
Heroes are powerful, controllable units that effectively replace the main tower of your base, with each having a certain amount of Hit Points and will trigger a loss if defeated. Each Hero has its own class and respective attributes, opening up a whole new world of strategy for players familiar with the battle arena genre.

Different Classes
At launch, there are three distinct classes, all with their own inherent advantages and disadvantages:
  • Tank: These heroes are built to last, with extra HP, but lack the speed and versatility of some of the other classes. Tanks are great for pushes, supporting other units. [Hero currently available: General Ironhide / Hellbrand]
  • Assault: Damage-dealers through and through, with high damage output and quick speed, but lack the high hit points that other heroes have, making them truly high-risk, high-reward. [Heroes currently available: John Bow / Commando]
  • Defensive: With good hit points and strong, effective attacks, these Heroes aren't the fastest, but they don't need to be to protect their side from oncoming pushes. [Hero currently available: Viktor von Boom]

Controlling your Heroes
The beauty of battle arena games lies in the combination of good strategy, quick action, and simple controls. With the Heroes, we wanted to keep those simple, fast controls, while expanding the strategy and fast-paced action.

Controlling Heroes is simple:
  • By tapping on a spot on the arena, your hero will move to the selected location, stand still, and automatically attack nearby units, heroes, and/or structures that it can (i.e. certain heroes can't attack air units, for instance).
  • By tapping a unit/hero/structure, your hero will move within range and automatically attack the target, chasing it if and when it moves.
  • To regain health, a Hero can collect a health kit, which will continually spawn in the hero's starting location.
  • Again, losing all of your Hero's Hit Points will spell your defeat so be sure to keep an eye on the health bar at the top of the screen!

Unlocking New Heroes
New Heroes can be purchased using Gold. We will be introducing new Heroes in the future and may provide ways for players to try out Heroes they don't currently have.
